Sources of Protein for Vegetarians

Dr. David Perlmutter says he’s often asked how someone who chooses to be vegetarian, or vegan, can get enough protein in their diet.

Every single cell in our body requires protein to function and protein is used to build and repair tissues. It’s important for supporting neurological function, building body mass, making and balancing our hormones, enzymes and other chemicals. Our hair and nails are mostly protein. So what are proteins exactly? They are macronutrients, large molecules consisting of amino acids that are the building blocks of protein.
